This string started in 2009 and the last dated entry is in 2010. Posted by Liana Metal on September 9, 2009, it raised a few very pertinent questions about the benefits of art as a whole. The questions being

What can art offer you? Apart from material benefits I mean.

How do you feel when you create?

Is Art a way of living after all?

One of the longest strings in Talk Art, these questions have intrigued many a participant from across the world. The first to reply was Saida Jamal on September 12, 2009. She said, “As an artist what i feel is that art is something more than just material benefits ....

its more like a thinking process, or you can say its the channel with which i execute my thoughts and what i adopt from my surroundings ....i read art therapy and believe it gives one a strength and motivate a lot -- it all depends on how you carry your way of living with art.... for me art is more a healing processes not for individuals but for societies ...”
However, a more philosophical answer was offered by Shashi Prasad on September 16, 2009: “Art for me is expressing/ sharing/ contributing, your own views on any subject of art !!

It's about finding & exploring yourself ....which subject / particular art gives you more satisfaction.

Every artist needs to realise that he/she is blessed with something extraordinary....the art is a medium / source which will take you to your desired destination. The journey will be full of joys n sorrows... but if you can find solace/ peace in travelling through the journey....that means you are on a right track.

Seeing your own creation of a good like giving birth to a healthy baby !!”

Anjana Sadanandan on September 21, 2009 added: “A work of art, is a corner of the creation seen through a temperament” Emile Zola. Art is definitely healing, it allows an individual to express his own feelings. Art for me is a process of understanding what we experience and how we conceive the world.”

Dr. Krishna Kumari Challa on September 22, 2009 added her expert bit“Yes, art helps you overcome several things like depression, frustration, stress etc. I added a discussion on this on my network groupResearch.”

However, the latest entry, by Muller Jean Francois dated February February 14, 2010, is blatantly promotional and contributes nothing to the subject matter, who tried to promote his artwork at the forum. This is unfortunate. A string, with 21 replies, going strong and adding value to a better understanding of art was therefore broken.
